We Go Back A Long Way…
DM Graphics Inc. (DMG) has a long history in direct mail. Its roots go back to the early 1980s when variable direct mail was still in its infancy.
Back in 1980, our original company was called Bradford Systems Group Ltd. We sold business software modules and hardware to a variety of markets including Not-For-Profits. One of our very first clients was the Canadian Diabetes Association located in downtown Toronto. Our mandate was to consolidate the regional databases into one centralized national database.
Along the way, Bradford Systems was offered the opportunity to produce a 40,000 three-way match direct mail campaign. With no equipment, no experience, and no programming software, Bradford embarked on a historical mission of producing its first variable data mailing. With new self-written software, a handful of daisywheel printers and many sleepless nights, Bradford met its very first mail date.
After completing its second mailing of 80,000 for Save The Children, Bradford picked up steam and became one of the premier lettershops in Canada specializing in variable, matching mail campaigns.
A new company called Bradford CompuType Inc. was born.
As the direct mail industry grew, Bradford Systems was dissolved, and Bradford CompuType became Bradford Direct, focusing entirely on direct mail production.
In 2005 after 25 years as President of Bradford, one of its two founders, Rainer Fischer, branched off into another company called DM (Direct Mail) Graphics Inc.
The dm industry has evolved tremendously since 1980 with most of the evolution being centred around equipment. From impact daisywheel and dot matrix printers to high tech laser and inkjet marvels, the industry of personalized mail has never died. Continuously evolving software is transforming creativity and imagination into reality.
However, with the ever complex world of equipment and time-sensitive projects, there will always be the need for knowledge, experience and commitment to get that mailing out the door!
